    3 horse slant load configuration

When using a 3 horse slant load trailer, if you are hauling just one or two critters what area should you use? I am thinking if one then in the middle, two then use the front and middle.
    any suggestions?

Depends onthe particular trailer. Try to keep the horse centered over the wheels.

Rik, You are right for ballancing the load. Your plan avoids negative tongue weight. Ideally you would have about 10% or so tongue weight. Hitches are designed to cary a load not to support a continuous negative load and the trailing stability can be compromised with negative tougue weights. Sometimes trailers get a bit squirrely when they flop back and forth between positive and negative tongue weights.

You could go negative if you put a large animal in the back and small ones in the center and front.

Get rid of the slant load if you like your horses to be sound

Why? Have you noticed something with this type of trailer?
