You know, BARF DIET isn't such a bad idea. Unfortunantly it isn't practical for me.
I had a discussion about dog food with my mother the other day. She was raised on a farm along with 6 other siblings.
She told me that the family dog was fed table scraps, meat veggies, all of it and their dogs always lived a long happy life.
This got me to thinking, why not ?
I used to do the same thing with my Rottie mix I used to have, of course he was 130lbs and loved to eat... LOL
He'll get his normal FRR food but I will start feeding "some" leftovers as well instead of throwing it away... Last night my pup got steak and broccli and cheese and today he is going to get the T bone (Outside )..
BARF definitely takes a dedication of time to one's dog. It is not for me either, but I have friends who adhere to it religiously for their canines. For the most part they are active in breeding and competing their breeds (primarily those involved in field competitions).
It was interesting, to me, to learn from the BARFies that there is nothing wrong with feeding chicken bones to a dog, as long as they're raw. It's the cooked bones that splinter and cause injuries.
