Re: My Town

To the best of my knowledge no one seems to do any fishing in the summer time. In the spring when there is a Shad run there used to people caught some 1/2 a kilometer or so up river.

During the winter when the ice is thick enough in some dead water areas people set up huts and jig for shad?? I believe.

Most people run out to the open ocean for summer fishing.

There are also many lakes in the area that others will go to for fishing.

It used to be one have of the best Atlantic Salmon runs in Nova Scotia but is a thing of the past.

How lucky we are that you happened to be down to the river when it happened to be ice free. Thanks for sharing your great good fortune.

Just gotta pick the proper day Pat. A few years ago an ice jamb almost took out the bridge you see in the picture and did flood some houses on the left hand side of the picture. Further upstream there was some serious flooding in low lying areas.
