Newbie post...

I just inherited a 3 stall barn in Ohio, with dirt floor, and a vapor barrier against the metal roofing. I want to make the tack room into a little shop area, but I have noticed that any cardboard boxes I put in there end up as soft a cooked spaghetti. I don't want to put my sanders and power tools in there if they are going to end up rusting. I don't think concrete is in my future for this structure. Someone mentioned that the moisture is coming up thru the dirt floor. Should i put down some heavy plastic and cover with gravel? How about calcium chloride? Any suggestions?
