Project Barn Q2, heating the slab

hi!
I am planning a Pole Barn, part of which will be with a heated concrete floor. I will be asking questions to get the consensus expertise. Please stick to the topic, I will be asking several, and could easily miss your pearl of wisdom if you start crossing threads!
thanks!

in the garage/shop area, I am planning on "keep the chill off" using an old wood stove I am hoping to get from my father in law, and more importantly floor heat with tubes in the slab. What is your experience on this? see Q1 for insulation, etc.

I have recently been involved in two different shop projects where the builders installed floor heat via piping and a boiler. If you do that, you would not need the wood stove. Keep in mind that if you do heat the floor, it is an all-or-nothing proposition. Once you put water in those tubes, you have to keep them warm all winter.
