    Re: Goats and sheep together

On the little herd that we have, they did not get copper in the mineral for about a month or so. When they did, they looked better, more shine in the eyes and just seemed happier overall. I am the copper does not leach out of their systems very fast and they can go awhile. Once they got free feed mineral the water usage went up a lot. In fact the 1 bottle baby we have learned a lot faster how to drink out of bucket instead of a bottle!
    No fun, change the rules!!!

    Re: Goats and sheep together

We have just about 90 sheep & goats. They stay pretty much together all the time. Sheep can be a bit snobby & goats want to wander around more; but they are in the same pasture & barn. They are strictly pasture raised in Summer & hay in Winter. We give sheep mineral in a wall mounted bucket on the side of the barn that the sheep have claimed & the goat mineral on the side the goats gravitate to. They will check out each other's buckets, but don't seem to like the content.
We really haven't had any problem w/ mixing our herds/flocks. We keep our chickens in the goat barn, the sheep/goats wander w/ the cattle, horses, chix, ducks, geese. We haven't let them in w/ the pigs, we think a lamb got in with the pigs & went missing. We don't let the cattle & horses in the goat/sheep barn.... to destructive.
