Canning is not always as hard as people think, I do not can everything but I do try. I like the pastime and the quiet time that I get from it, not to mention dealing with grocer trips and lugging all of that into the house since it already is (in the basement).
I am going to try to learn how this year as well. My MIL is going to help me learn the basics of it since she already has all the equipment and stuff.
I've never learned how to can. One of my aunts cans a lot from her garden and makes pickles and jams, too. I'm afraid I've only made applesauce, apple butter and freezer jams. My apple butter is used quickly as I only make a small batch at a time. I do freeze tons of produce but just never did the canning.
