Trying To Keep My Cat Inside

I have a male cat that is neutered and he still loves to go outside! I just had to take him to the vet because he got into a fight with another cat and has an abscess. Does anyone have any tips to help me keep him inside?

We have a cat that does the exact same thing. Anytime you open the door he is trying to get out, no matter what we do. We usually just let him come and go as he pleases, but he never gets into any fights or trouble outside. I can't think of any possible way to train him to stay inside, I would just recommend you watch him a little closer when you go out. Good luck with keeping him in. If I find any way to keep our cat indoors I'll be sure to post it on here for you.

How about if before you open the door to go out you give him a treat in a different room? I had to do that with one of my cats because he was quick and sneaky and I was forever chasing him through the yard. Then when I would open the door to go into the house the first thing I would do was stick out my foot and try to block him from coming out.
