We are going to need to update some of our kitchen and the cabinets are going to be killer. They have to be at least 40 years dated and while they still work just fine (other than a wobbly hinge here/there) they look horrible. I need some help from kitchen pros please.

When I built my house, I went to Home Depot or you can go to Lowes with a measurement of your kitchen and they have a program that will help you design a nice kitchen. Just make sure you make a note as to where your plumbing is located in order to have the correct base cabinets in the right location
Lots of the bigger commercial places can design it for you on a computer so you can get an idea beforehand what it will look like. My biggest problem when renovating is making a decision. I end up liking too many choices and then I have a hard time settling on just one.
As the others have said, Lowes and Home Depot have some great tools for you to design with, but I would get a set budget before you even walk in. I helped my sister with her kitchen remodel and she saved a bundle by doing most of the installation. Know where you want to spend the money before you go.
