    Hard wood floor

How much work is involved in ripping up a floor and putting in hardwood for flooring? We would want to do it ourselves. What would this take? How much time do you think it would take?

I put in hardwood floors by myself in my kitchen and nook a few years back. Took me 2 days (1 weekend) for a couple hundred sq ft, as I recall. It helps to have 2 people do it. That way, one person can be cutting the end pieces and laying out the boards while the other person concentrates on installing them and nailing in place. It might have only taken 1 day if I had help.

I'm talking about oak 3/4" t & g flooring. Make sure you rent a PNEUMATIC nailer. Also put down tar paper underneath the flooring. I rented a sander from Home Depot, sanded and finished the flooring the next weekend.

Just depends how handy you are and willing to sweat, like a lot of home improvement projects.
