    Oil vs. Propane

We have oil heat currently. It's a boiler, heats the water that runs through baseboard registers. We don't have room for duct work. We do need to upgrade our furnance and we are considering a propane boiler. I'm not sure it's cheaper one way or the other, but I'm thinking Propane may be better in the long run, especially for re-sell. Thoughts?

Depending on where you live, LP is generally more expensive than oil, not per gallon but per equivalent BTU's. A gallon of oil gives approx 140,000 btu's when burned. A gallon of LP gives about 90,000 btu's when burned. Both have clean combustion when properly set up and as lower sulfur fuel oil makes its way into use, the particulates from oil continue to decrease.
