Which is more economical, requires less labor and more profitable: to raise swine in fenced off open areas or to raise them in pig pens?

We have always had our swine in open, fenced off areas. They do like to get out once in a while so our neighbors will call us, that would be the only reason I would go to putting them in pens to keep them in. The fencing is a lot less labor intensive and economical if you don't already have anything set up.
