    Prunning emegency

That last wind storm we had was pretty bad. It blew some rather large limbs down from a number of trees. We were out there collecting them to use as firewood when we noticed one of the trees was really damaged and needed pruning. Is it ok to prune this time of year?

It appears to me that you don't have much choice. It will be better to prune the tree rather than let the damaged part remain. The good news is that winter is coming fast and winter is the best time to prune most trees.

As a side note we were driving a country road last week and were stopped while a helicopter pruned high branches on the right of way where a high voltage power line crossed the road. I had never seen that up close before.
