My son is in college taking up Information Technology course. I am encouraging him to learn more programming techniques online which are offered for free, but he seems reluctant. I learned my internet knowledge through these courses.

I think your son should really listen to you. It is always great to obtain as much knowledge of what we are pursuing in college especially if it is for free. However, you know how kids are. They always like to go against what the parents are saying just for the sake of being negative. However, you should print out a page with the links to the different websites you think will be helpful to him. He might change his mind when you are not around.
