Advice please - plants for shady terrace

I have a terrace that is mostly in the shade - it gets very hot in te summer and light frosts (never less than -5ï½°) in the winter. It is 20m x10m, has an east facing back wall (my house) and the base is all concrete.

I plan to build some raised beds and to hang troughs, pots etc on my wonderfully solid picket fence.

What plants would do well ?

Sounds like ferns and ivy might work out in the situation you describe. There is also a ground cover called Dead Nettle that does well in shady conditions. If you keep the ferns potted, you could bring them inside during the winter.
