    putting fence across a creek

We have almost 20 acres across the creek and the old crossing is washed out. We plan to redo the crossing, but need to include some fence that crosses the creek. The sides of the creek are about 20 ft. deep and at a sharp angle, but you壇 be surprised how cows can climb! I was on more than one occasion.
The creek is seasonal with only a few inches in it most of the time, but strong storms can push a lot of water down. The bed is pretty narrow.
What would be an efficient type of fence to cross the water bed?

do you already have a fence in place? Maybe a metal and wood posts fence will suit you?
