OK, the good news is I'm alive... again. Just curious though, how many other idiots like myself are out there adding breakers to the box while it's live?

I did this the first time several years ago under the supervision of a very handy friend. Since then, I've added many circuits without cutting the power. Is this as stupid as it sounds? It's really not that scary, just keep things in order and watch what you're doing. The ground and neutral are a breeze and I secure the hot to the breaker before clipping it in. I'm careful to keep the bare wires (particularly the ground) away from the center buses and the hot lugs on the other breakers. Never more than one tool in my hand and no tool if I'm using only my hand.

OK, I'll even admit at this point to wiring in receps while hot. One wire at a time, no more! And never beyond the martini hour

So bring on the critisism, but be honest with me. Am I the only lucky one out there?

Still happy to be alive
