Makes nice cover for the fish to hide around.
This year we didn't go out and cut a tree like in the past years. We bought ours (pre-cut) from an organization that purchased land to keep it in it's natural beauty. They are now raising over 45,000 trees on the 1,000+ acres they have acquired. Most of it with volunteer labor.
Raven Rocks, Inc.
It gives the baby fish a place to hide from the big fish until they grow up.

Makes sense. I was thinking nutrients for some reason. Thanks!
That's a great concept. Maybe I should drive out there next year to get our tree...
GSS,
I would imagine they have an area where you could get one there, but we purchased one at a retail lot that they set up for tree sales.
