Fluorescent Lights vs. Radio Reception

On advice of some friends I installed the 'new' type of fluorescent light fixtures in my shop; the ones with thin bulbs that go on immediately. Unfortunately, my radio plays only noise as soon as I turn on the lights, which is all the time. I tried a different radios but it is the same. Do you experience the same thing, anything I can do to fix it?

I just put in two, two bulb units in my barn of the new thin style and the portable radio about 10 feet away works fine. Haven't noticed any problem at all [img]/forums/images/icons/confused.gif[/img]

I think the balist (sp?) in the florescent light fixtures may be the problem.
