We have a chicken that stands in the middle of the yard instead of under a tree where she usually hangs out, with her head kind of pulled back into the fluff of feathers around her neck and acts like she's catatonic. Her feathers are all kind of puffed out but it's not that cold out so I don't think she's cold. You can go right up and pick her up and she only fusses a little; usually she wouldn't let you get near her. She's very lethargic. After carrying her around a little she perks up, but then goes into this state again awhile later. We finally put her in the coop with some food and she ate a little. I'm not sure exactly how old she is, but we've had her a year and she was mature when we got her. Any ideas what's wrong?
