I long ago decided the beer added no flavor, so I drank the beer and put water in the can. Then I figured more would be better so I started drinking a 6-pak and scattering water-filled cans all around the grill and adding cans as the cook progressed. Someday I'll convince myself a tin pan full of water would accomplish the same result.
Try mixing a good handfull of Tang in your chicken rub or use it straight. Sweet 'n Tangy chicken I tell you what.
Something magical about Tang. I've tried other powdered drink mixes, orange and lemon, doesn't work. Just put a little in your regular rub to try the taste.
I will try the tang too!!
I love to smoke game hens , and I also bought a wing rack at Wally World, it hangs the wings, I now hang big old fatties on it and smoke them, a Sweet and Tangy smoked wings would be interesting too.
Re-reading Babble's post makes me think (s)he is referring to wings, I dunno.
In my part of the world, smokin' a fattie is where you peel a tube of your favorite sausage and chunk it in the smoker for 3 hours. Placed over a lean piece of meat such as porkloin during the cook it will help keep it moist (auto-baste). Crumble a fattie up into some cheese dip, serve it to your friends, and it'll make you famous.
Well that sure sounds good to me. We have a bunch of shows back to back so maybe in a few weeks I will give that a shot. I need to fire up the smoker as its getting to be that time of year.
