I took this picture outside our back door at the beginning of this week. This beautiful owl seems to fit right in with the deer, fox, and bear.

Nice shot. Somewhere I have a picture (or a slide) of an owl that I rehabilitated and released in the mountains. I turned it loose before all the snow was melted but lots of rodent tracks in evidence. It walked a few feet then took off. After finishing my picnic lunch I went looking and calling. I had learned to speak "owl" while I was keeping it (feeding live rats.) It called back in answer and after a few exchanges I found it in a tree on a short dead limb about 12-15 feet up. To get a better angle on it with my camera I had to climb a neighboring tree. After all the effort my picture is about equivalent to your snapshot.

"I'm not from your planet, monkey boy!"
Last fall when I was sitting in the woods (deer hunting) a big white owl flew over me. It was amazing.
Nice to see somebody else from NH here.
Livin' the dream.
