Hope this works (my first attempt at posting pics).
I'll post another that shows the berries.

I'll post another that shows the berries.
Try it again
Pic #2 (with the berries)
Honeysuckle I think.
Some variety of sumac I think
It looks like buckthorn based on the color of the bark and berries. They get about 6-8' and really spread out. I will try to get out and get some pictures of it around here. It's a pain to get rid of.

gsganzer, LazyJ, Greg:
Thanks for the responses. I did some more research based on your suggestions, and determined it is honeysuckle. I always thought honeysuckle was a vine, so had eliminated it as a possibility. Although the stuff growing on my land is apparently a native species, I also learned there are several invasive alien varieties in the Northeast (and elsewhere). Thanks again for the responses, the mystery was bugging me for a long time!
Greg:
I have buckthorn here, too, but the berries are black, and it more often reaches tree height than the honeysuckle.
I have quite a bit of invasive honeysuckle on my place. I've been trying to slowly get it under control, but there are hundreds of plants of various sizes.
I'd make sure it's native or you will end up with it everywhere from the birds eating the berries and spreading it.
We had an "Orchid Tree" (common name) in our backyard in San Diego. IT was about 40ft or so high. Some honeysuckle volunter plants (thanks to our avian friends) came up and started climbing it. At first we didn't care but when there was more honeysuckle blooms than the ersatz orchids we were not as happy. Eventually I cut it all down. Some of the stalks were over 2 inches in diameter and 40 ft high. What a job to remove the vine and not destroy too much of the beautiful tree.
If I had it to do over I'd girdle the stems near the ground and poison the cambium layer exposed. After the thing died I could remove it at my leisure, in sectioins
