I can't say it was boring; there are always interesting things to see. There weren't a lot of unusual things today.
It took 52 transmission shifts to get to work.

I count shifts also you freak
Jeep - I can easily keep it under 30 (rarely use 5th)
Diesel Dually - consistently 40 shifts (often don't use 1st and she likes 5th)
Porsche - 60+ (workin' her like a TV remote)
Jazz, How many cracks were there in the sidewalk on the way to your grade school?

I can get to work with no shifts but when I did work it was a rotating shift!

Lazy, it's 34.5 miles (one way) and I use 5th gear a lot. I have been able to get 31 MPG on this 1988, 6-cylinder car. I sometimes lead a parade up the hills, though.
Pat, I simply avoided stepping on the cracks. Wouldn't want to break our mother's back now, would we?
Egon, are you saying that you currently just shift positions in the recliner?
Something like that Jazz!

I think that would be terrible to have to drive that far to go to work! I thought it was bad to have to drive 32.5 miles (one way) to my favorite launching ramp to go fishing.
I'm 22 miles one way every day, half rural and half interstate. Only 4 miles to my favorite launch though!
I actually have two launching ramps within 4 miles of the house on Lake Lewisville, which is currently 9.81' low. If the drought ever ends and our lakes fill up again, I'll probably spend more time on this lake close to the house. But right now, even though Ray Roberts Lake is 8.34' low, the launching ramps are newer, better designed, etc., so I much prefer the ones at Isle du Bois State Park. Besides that, they have a really nice fish cleaning shelter that we don't have at Lake Lewisville.
Driving a car with the equivalent of a CVT should qualify me for a number of shifts approaching infinity!
