my 99 silverado Z71 feels like the transmission is slipping when i take off from a stop. it jerks pretty strong and is pretty disheartening. im not sure where the problem is. i saw this in an earlier post but i never saw it answered. it seems to only happen after ive been driving for an hour or so.
thanks for any help.
It is very common. It is not the transmission it is the drive shaft moving back and forth on the splines. When you stop the shaft moves forward and then when you drive away it moves back a few inches. There were several fixes.
A stainless shaft. special lube ect. What fixed it on mine was to change the transfer case lube to the special synthetic that they started using in 2002. It is blue in color and I think is only sold by chevy/GMC dealers. Does not hurt anything but is annoying. $10 a quart most places takes two. It is called Chevy drive line clunk.
