Jimbrown, actually, isn't that a "strop"? And I've got one in my basement from my grandfather. When I got it and his straight razors after his passing, I tried (ONCE) to shave with one. Phone rang, startled me, and I darn near cut my throat. Never again. I shiver every time I see a TV show/movie showing someone shaving with a straight razor.

I just got an e-mail yesterday listing over 40 of the things us old folks remember and our grandkids probably never heard of. I noticed one of them was a 5 cent stamp. I was working a window at the Post Office selling stamps when they went from 4 cents to 5 cents. Some of my customers had been complaining about having to pay 3 cents for a "penny postcard" and now they had to pay 4 cents. And that really wasn't all that long ago; January, 1963.
I have an unused 2 cent post card but would like to have had a 1 cent one.
