When I was a kid, my mom didn't even have a dryer. She always hung the clothes out to dry. Now, my wife works and usually uses the dryer. It's a treat when she hangs them out to dry, but that's not often.

Yes we use the outside clothes line whenever we can. Usually we start in the spring and hang them up throughout the summer and into fall. I love hanging up clothes with my wife. She is pretty picky though and says I don't do the best job.
We do it whenever the weather permits. We have a pretty mild climate where we live, so we can hang them out roughly 8 months out of the year. Saves on our electricity bill.
My mother didn't have a dryer until long after I was grown and gone from home. And my wife and I didn't have one until September, 1972, when we moved into a new house. At that time, we'd been married 7 years. When I was a kid, my mom didn't even have a dryer.
In warm or hot weather, I hang all of my clothes that don't have to be ironed out on the line. I figured out that I don't save any money by line drying if I have to iron them. I love the feel and smell of line dryed towels and sheets, though.
