I have to ask if anyone else has ever heard of this. My husband has a snack tradition from childhood where he takes peanut butter and mixes it with maple syrup. He warms it a bit in the microwave and then eats it with saltine crackers. This is about the strangest thing I've seen in the kitchen and I'm curious if anyone else does this.
My husband does this too. The only difference is he pours the maple syrup in to the peanut butter jar. This drives me crazy because I hate finding syrup in the peanut butter.
I love this for a snack. When I was growing up we mixed the peanut butter with white Karo syrup. Your husbands know what is really good!
I have never eaten it with crackers but I do like syrup and peanut butter on both pancakes and waffles. I have gotten some really strange looks when i do this though.

Peanut butter alone is too dry and sticks to the roof of your mouth too much. So when I eat peanut butter, I mix syrup or honey or jelly with it; sometimes even a little margarine. Then it's good on crackers, bread, biscuits, etc.
I have never heard of peanut butter and syrup but I used to like to have peanut butter and honey sandwiches when I was a kid which is about the same thing. I also like peanut butter and marshmallow cream. It's the salty and sweet together that is so good.
