My mom want to put a air-rater in her pond to watch the waterfall. Does this really help with the quality of air in the water for the fish or is it just a pretty decoration for her to look at?

If you mean like a fountain where it shoots the water up in the air, Yes, it does aerate the water. It will also keep the algae from growing.
Yes the quality of life for your fish goes up and the algae goes down. I love ours in our pond. And it doubles as a nice decoration, we have a large pond so I have one on each end.
Thank you both. Yes speedbump I did mean aerate, I just didn't know how to spell it. They look really nice and I am happy they actually have a function. I am going to help install it this weekend.
