I was brought up in a big city and gradually have moved to smaller cities, small towns, large villages, small villages and no live in a very isolated house. I love it her (an no, weldingisfun I have not done any of those things you mention). I live 10 minutes by bicycle from a very small village (bakery, bar, church, part-time post office) and 15 minutes by car from a market town. I wouldn't live in a city again - but i do love the adventure of days out to the nearest city 2 hours away by car.

This is our situation as well. We live about an hour away from absolutely everything! I like it this way. We have our space, peace and quiet. Then we have the option of a short drive and access to a complete city. Works great for us!

I grew up in the country, moved 1000 miles to get away from the approtching subberbs, and after 25 years they are coming this way!
